SHAFALI JALOTA
British-American soprano Shafali Jalota has been praised for her "stunning vocal technique and poised stage presence" (Opera Today). She is a prizewinner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Camille Coloratura Awards, the Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Competition, and a finalist in the Bampton Classical Opera Competition.
She has performed internationally with companies including Glyndebourne, Opera Neo, and Hampstead Garden Opera. Most recently, Shafali joined the Glyndebourne Chorus for Ethel Smyth’s The Wreckers and performed Cinders/Dr B/Little Red Riding Hood/Maid Maria in The Hive Opera.
Her roles include Susanna, Le nozze di Figaro (Hampstead Garden Opera, Amalfi Coast Summer Music & Arts Festival); Romilda, Serse (Opera Neo); Suor Genovieffa, Suor Angelica (Random Opera Company, Halifax Summer Opera Festival); and Rose Maurrant, Street Scene (Maryland OperaStudio).
Shafali joins the Royal Opera House Chorus in Verdi’s Aida and Puccini’s Tosca this Autumn. She is a graduate of the Maryland Opera Studio and UNC Chapel Hill, and she is currently based in London.
