Helen Stanley

Helen recently graduated from the RWCMD Opera School, where she was awarded the Seligman Award for Excellence. She previously studied at RAM.

Her opera roles include Mistress Quickly in Falstaff, Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Dorabella in CosÌ fan tutte and Fidalma in Il Matrimonio Segreto. More recently she played Juno in Semele for Mid Wales Opera, and Popova in The Bear in Ischia, Italy, subsequently covering the role for Mid Wales Opera. She is particularly interested in contemporary opera and has been involved in premieres at the Grimeborn, Tête a Tête and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

Helen’s recent concert performances include Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Southbank Sinfonia and Bach B Minor Mass with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields. She has also appeared as soloist in Schmitt’s La Tragedie de Salome with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and in Daniel-Lesur’s Le Cantique des Cantiques with the BBC Symphony Chorus at the BBC Proms. Other notable performances include an opera gala with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera and a performance for HRH The Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.
